Recognizing the achievements and valuable contributions of others is a commendable societal characteristic, and therefore we were the first to introduce an annual award ceremony to recognize such people and organizations in the Arab Gulf region. The first recipient of these awards in 1984, was His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Sharjah. This annual award ceremony continued and was linked to the annual conference.
Starting from 2015, the Global Knowledge Exchange Foundation took over the responsibility with specific criteria for selection. We use the Hamalaya Model of Excellence that links individual achievements with impact on community, country, region etc.
